MARTIN, Russ Some Stars Never Burn Out The boss man and radio star, Russ Martin, was born in Pleasant Grove Texas on October 4, 1960 as Russell Dale Martin, and passed away at his Frisco home on February 27, 2021. Surviving him is his mother, Mary Martin, and his brother Mark Martin. And so many friends and fans. For nearly 40 years, Russ has entertained his listeners with his witty and oftentimes controversial and shocking humor, and his once in a lifetime personality. From the early days of playing gospel hits, to being the most listened to radio show in the DFW market, Russ always did it his way. He was and is a legend to the radio world, and will be forever remembered for his generosity and charity. Russ founded the Russ Martin Show Listeners Foundation in 2002, which benefits the families of police officers and firefighters who have died in the line of duty. It is important to Russ for his incredible foundation to outlive him. Oftentimes, Russ would say his biggest treasures are dogs, but at the end of the day, it was his listeners. Russ was preceded in death by his beloved Abbey, Twiggy and Blue. Russ was intrigued with Batman so much that he owned a replica bat mobile, and other movie cars that many may have seen. He was a normal guy with a big voice. He always had a way to fill the room with joy and laughter. From his early days of television like HOT TV and Hot Tickets, Russ Martin and his contagious personality has left big shoes to fill. He leaves a void in the drive home for his fans.
